Today, the fall vaccination campaign against the Corona virus begins across the country. In the coming weeks, thousands of shots will be taken again to boost protection against the coronavirus. Vaccination is not mandatory.
In Flanders, there are about eighty pollination centers ready to provide the necessary reinforcements for autumn. This is done using vaccines from Pfizer and Moderna that are adapted to the omikron type of coronavirus.
At the start of the campaign, 1.3 million adapted vaccines will be made available to Flanders. More deliveries will be made in the coming weeks. Over 1.6 million people have been invited so far. This week, there are approximately 340,000 confirmed shots with the modified vaccine.
The new vaccination is not mandatory, but it is recommended for immunocompromised people, coexists, people over 65 years of age, and health care providers. Priority groups are invited first. The rest of the adult population will also receive an invitation. Because the intent is that by the end of October, everyone who wants to take the fall payment will have a chance.
The website reads: “The purpose of the fall vaccination is to enhance protection against serious diseases from Covid-19 before the next outbreak of infection.” letjevaccineren.be Health and Welfare Agency.
As with a GP or in a hospital, wearing a mouth mask at the vaccination center is still mandatory, says Lien Thoelen, a spokeswoman for the agency.
In all, it is about 4.5 million citizens who will have the opportunity to be vaccinated before the beginning of November. Up to 800,000 injections per week can be given in Flanders. At the end of October, we will assess whether we can switch to a capacity of 400,000 syringes per week, says Flemish Health Minister Hilde Krewitz (CD&V).
“The vaccination centers with many staff and volunteers have been successful in our Flemish vaccination campaign so far. We are now calling for their professionalism, leadership and friendliness once again. We are very grateful to these people and glad that they are also taking part in this autumn vaccination campaign.. ready from new”.
The autumn vaccination campaign has also begun in Brussels and Wallonia. In Brussels, from today, all people over the age of 50 who have received an invitation by appointment can be vaccinated. From October 1, all people over the age of 18 can get a new booster vaccine without an appointment. Vaccination with the modified Pfizer vaccine is carried out at four immunization centers, Louis-Saint-Pierre, Molenbeek, Forest and Pacheco, via mobile teams and at local pharmacists’ vaccination points.
