Chechen special units are training with a large group of former Wagner mercenaries. This was stated by Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov, who shared a video of soldiers conducting shooting training on social media.

Wagner played an important role in the Russian war in Ukraine, but there is ambiguity about the future of the mercenary group. CEO Yevgeny Prigozhin died this year in a plane crash after a brief uprising against Russia’s defense leadership.
Kadyrov praised the mercenaries in a message on Telegram. He said he was happy that his special forces were working with forces “that have proven to be brave and effective fighters.” He said he was confident they would live up to their reputation in future battles.
The Chechen leader did not go into details about the number of former Wagner mercenaries participating in the training. It is also unclear whether these fighters will be included in the security forces of the Russian Republic. Kadyrov is an important ally of Russian President Vladimir Putin.
