IKEA Wilrijk offers a free shuttle bus service to and from Antwerp … (Antwerp)

On Wednesday IKEA will start a free shuttle bus service between its branch in Wilrijk and downtown Antwerp. “Pändelbuss” is a pilot project in collaboration with Autocars De Polder that will last at least three months. In this way, IKEA hopes to attract more visitors and remove vehicular traffic from the road.

  • Van 08/18 tem 11/18
  • Free
  • Six days a week
  • One trip per hour, round trip

The shuttle bus will stop in the heart of Antwerp at the intersection between Francelei and De Keyserlei and operate approximately once per hour during IKEA Wilrijk opening hours. You will be able to recognize the car by the distinctive blue and yellow of the furniture company. Without a traffic jam, the trip will take about 25 minutes, as the bus is allowed to drive in the bus lane and has no intermediate stops.

“Pändelbuss is a simple and sustainable mobility solution that we want to offer to Antwerp residents who previously did not have easy access to IKEA Wilrijk,” says Robbe Geeraerts, Deputy Market Director at IKEA Wilrijk.

The city of Antwerp is hoping the bus can keep a lot of cars off the road, which would be welcome on the very busy roads of Antwerp and the southern suburbs of Antwerp.
