A powerful tornado struck the city of Suqian in Jiangsu Province, China. The tornado hit directly through the center, as seen in photos on social media. Cars were blown away, homes were destroyed and set on fire, and several people were injured and killed, according to initial reports. After the whirlwind passed, the city center looked like a war zone.

Although the United States is the country par excellence, you can encounter them on almost every continent except Antarctica. China will also have to deal with hurricanes. And that was the case today. For example, the Chinese city of Suqian was hit by a devastating storm, resulting in deaths.
What is a hurricane? A tornado is a column of air rotating at great speed. This occurs almost exclusively in the world’s most violent type of thunderstorm: the supercell. Only one in 1,000 thunderstorms grows into such a supercell. About one in five of these supercells develops into a tornado.
Although both the United States and China are located at approximately the same latitude in the Northern Hemisphere, the number of tornadoes in China is less than 100 per year. About one in five of them has EF1 severity. Severe tornadoes are fairly rare. Despite this, typhoons in China tend to cause severe damage and loss of life. This is largely due to the high population density in coastal areas where these diseases are more prevalent, the unpreparedness of most people and the lack of preventive infrastructure.
Tornadoes in China mainly occur in summer, with their highest frequency in July. The onset and duration of tornado outbreaks vary by region. Typhoons occur from May to September in southern China, from June to September in northeastern China, from July to September in the central lower Yangtze Plain, and from July to August in northern China. So this violent hurricane came very late in the season, and more than 80% of hurricanes occur in these areas.
