Markle joined actress Brooke Shields and former news anchor Katie Couric on stage where they discussed “breaking barriers” and “representing women.”

During the discussion, Meghan shared a story about how she remembers receiving a lot of negative comments during her pregnancy. “I wonder why people are so hateful,” she says. “It's not mean, it's just cruel.” Markle also pointed out to the committee and audience that women often speak poorly about other women online.

The Duchess of Sussex says she now keeps her distance from social media. “I do it for my well-being,” she explains. “I almost gave up on it.
