‘Music Helps Me Heal’: Ed Sheeran dedicates a new song to a deceased friend | showbiz

He himself announces this on Instagram. “This song is about missing someone and feeling like every time you go out you could run into them. Everything reminds you of them and the things you did together,” Sheeran explains. He’s referring to his friend Jamal Edwards, who died of heart failure in February of last year at the age of 31. “Blue was Jamal’s color, and now it’s all I have. I feel. When Sheeran announced his new album two weeks ago, he already declared it had become a very personal record and shared some shocking revelations about the songs’ content. “A month later I was told that my pregnant wife had a tumor and there was no way to treat it before the baby was born. One of my best friends, Jamal, died at the same time. On top of that, I was also in court defending my career as a songwriter. I was overwhelmed with feelings of anxiety and depression. I felt like I was drowning. Like I was looking at the surface, but I couldn’t get there to catch my breath.”
