It has been shown that people infected with SARS produce antibodies after Pfizer vaccination that successfully fight not only known coronavirus variants, but also other worrisome coronaviruses.
Many people agree: We should try to avoid the next pandemic no matter what. However, scientists warn that we may be headed towards it era of epidemics. It is not impossible for new coronaviruses to emerge. Therefore, researchers are seriously looking for a comprehensive vaccine for corona that not only protects against all current circulating corona variants, but also protects against future corona virus outbreaks. In the coronavirus family, one subgroup infects human cells through the ACE2 receptor (a kind of “home key” that allows the virus to enter our cells). Both the SARS-CoV-1 virus that broke out in 2003 and the current circulating coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) belong to this group, along with a number of other coronaviruses that circulate in animals such as bats, pangolins and civets. Researchers are searching for a single vaccine that could protect against this whole group study between different people. They collected eight people infected with SARS from among their members in 2003, but have since fully recovered. Ten healthy people as well as ten COVID-19 survivors have also been recruited. It leads to an interesting discovery. Because researchers found that people who had SARS and were vaccinated with Pfizer produced very strong and effective antibodies. These antibodies can neutralize not only the known variants of SARS-CoV-2, but also other animal coronaviruses of concern.
“Before vaccination, SARS-CoV-1 survivors had detectable neutral antibodies only to SARS-CoV-1, but neither SARS-CoV-2 nor low levels of antibody,” researcher Wanni Chia explains. “But after two doses of the Pfizer vaccine, they all had high levels of neutralizing antibodies to both SARS-CoV-1 and SARS-CoV-2. They are the only group that now has a broad spectrum of neutralizing antibodies that can compete with ten Sarpcoviruses. thoughtful.”
It is a promising discovery. Because it is the first time such “cross-neutralization activity” has been shown in humans. We already see that current vaccines do not provide complete protection against the new, emerging and worrying variants of corona. For example, researchers recently came to the news that Pfizer and AstraZeneca both offer less protection against the increasingly dominant delta variant.
