Rumor: Google may be active on XRP ledger

Despite the ongoing lawsuit with the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Ripple continues to actively develop. Recently, rumors have emerged that Google is showing interest in Ripple’s XRP Ledger (XRPL) by operating nodes of this network.

Speculation about Google’s role in the XRP ledger

News taken from screenshot subscriber Written by Edo Farina on X, former Twitter. It shows the IP addresses of computers running nodes on the XRP Ledger, and one of these IP addresses is said to be hosted by Google. In addition, Google LLC is mentioned as an Internet Service Provider (ISP). Data shows that Google may be running XRPL nodes, similar to how Microsoft is achieving this through Azure Blockchain as a Service (BaaS).

The potential involvement of a tech giant like Google could significantly boost confidence in Ripple’s XRP and its associated ledger. This is likely to generate more interest from investors and users, and could pave the way for wider adoption of XRP in the business world, especially if companies and developers decide to support technologies that will be used by a powerful company like Google.

However, there are doubts within the XRP community regarding the explanation of the screenshot shared by Farina. The ambiguity lies mainly in whether Google itself is responsible for operating the XRPL contract, or whether other individuals or entities use Google Cloud infrastructure for this purpose. An XRPL representative noted that the IP address in question likely belongs to the Google Cloud service, opening up the possibility that it may actually be a Google Cloud customer running the nodes, and not Google itself.

Ripple forms a partnership with Georgia

Although it has not been confirmed whether Google is actually responsible for managing the XRP Ledger contract, Ripple continues its strategic expansion. In a recent development, the National Bank of Georgia (NBG) has selected Ripple for the pilot project of their digital currency, Digital Lari.

Ripple was selected from a list of nine candidates based on their proven ability to support digital financial structures. NBG plans to test Digital Lari in a controlled environment using the Ripple platform. This pilot will provide insight into the operation and potential benefits of a Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC).
