On WhatsApp, callers you don’t know can annoy you, but the app has a solution for that. This way you can silence unknown callers on WhatsApp.

Silence unknown callers on WhatsApp
WhatsApp users are increasingly reporting being flooded with spam calls through the app. This is a big problem, especially in India, but you can of course also suffer from it in the Netherlands. With a new functionality, you can ensure that these conversations are no longer displayed prominently, without missing out on important calls.
In the WhatsApp settings menu, you will now find the option to silence incoming calls from unknown numbers. You’ll still see calls in the Calls tab and in your notifications, but you’ll no longer see them as big screen as a phone call.
To find the option, go to the next steps.
- Go to WhatsApp settings;
- select “Privacy” and then “Calls”;
- Toggle the switch next to “Keep unknown caller silent”.
If you don’t like the functionality, go through the same steps again and make sure the slider is turned off in the last step.
Privacy control
To make users aware of these and other privacy features, WhatsApp also offers Privacy Checkup. In the privacy settings, you can find this option at the top of the screen. If you click on this notification, you will be guided step by step through the privacy settings of the application.
