Florian Kofeldt resigned from his position as coach of KAS Eupen on Saturday evening. He did so immediately after the 4-0 defeat his club suffered from Standard.
Kofeldt has been coaching the KAS Eupen since 1 July 2023. Before the start of the play-offs, he decided to end his time at the club.
Kauffeldt reveals that he had already made his decision three weeks ago. “This is not an emotional decision and I did not make it overnight,” he said, according to Het Laatste Nieuws newspaper.
“For me, I actually made the decision about three weeks ago, because there are also a number of special reasons behind it. I would like to thank Eubin for the wonderful ten months I have spent at this club.”
He says CEO Christoph Henkel really wanted to keep Kohfeldt. “Until the last minute, CEO Christoph Henkel tried to convince me to reconsider my decision, because it indicated that people here in Eupen were not completely satisfied with my performance. I would also like to wish the club and the players every success in the game. – Down.”
KAS Eupen currently ranks 14th in the classification with 24 points. The club must now search for a new coach, before Eupen begins the relegation play-offs.
