As part of the process of cutting 3,800 jobs in Europe, about 100 employees at Ford Lommel Proving Ground will eventually leave voluntarily. Therefore, there will be no forced layoffs, said Het Belang van Limburg.
Ford wants to make radical changes, thus cutting thousands of jobs in Europe (among other things). The vast majority of jobs will disappear in Germany and the UK, but also elsewhere. The 370 employees received an offer to leave the company voluntarily. Those who quickly agreed to the proposed arrangement were allowed to add around €30,000 more to the account, on top of the statutory severance pay. Whoever waits until today will see that the amount is limited to 20 thousand euros. Therefore, the premium will gradually decrease until 2026.
Ford expects approximately 100 people will ultimately agree to the proposed incentive system. This means that there will be no forced redundancies and a (much more expensive) round of redundancies will be avoided. A good solution for all parties.
