Additional HPV injection sites at colleges and universities and extended hours

Additional HPV injection sites at colleges and universities and extended hours

The opening hours of HPV injection sites for young people in Alphen aan den Rijn, Gouda and Leiden (ECC site) have been extended. These locations are now open Tuesday through Saturday, instead of only Saturday. In addition, Hecht GGD Hollands will open two additional HPV injection sites at the college and university in Leiden on 7 December. Non-students are also welcome. Are you between 19 and 27 years old and want to get the free HPV vaccination? So it’s important to get vaccinated against HPV in 2023. The last chance to get the shot this year in Hollands Maiden is Saturday 23 December. In 2024, there will be far fewer open HPV injection sites.

For long-term protection against HPV, two injections at least five months apart are required. Will you get your first dose of HPV after 2023? After that – because of the five-month period – you can only get the second injection after June 1, 2024 and will have to pay for it yourself. Because the HPV vaccination will no longer be free for young people from June 1, 2024. Have you had your first shot at least five months ago? It’s best to get your second shot in 2023. From January to June 1, 2024, HPV vaccination will be available in much fewer places and less often than this year. There is a high possibility that you will have to travel further to get an HPV shot.

Extra incentive

Young people can go to at least eleven injection sites to get a free HPV shot next month. Without an appointment, easy and close. Hecht GGD Hollands Midden hopes this will encourage young people to come and get vaccinated against HPV this year.

You can drop in without an appointment at the locations below. Do not come for the second injection until you receive a reminder. You will receive this via text message or email five months after the first injection. And don’t forget your ID, because without an ID you can’t get a shot. Business hours may change. About HPV and vaccination

HPV is highly contagious. Eight out of ten people are unknowingly infected with HPV during their lifetime through intimate contact. The virus can cause cancer of the mouth, throat, penis, anus, vagina, labia, and cervix later in life. HPV vaccination protects against these six types of cancer, even if you are already sexually active. The effectiveness of the HPV vaccine is being tested on an ongoing basis and no lasting side effects have been found. For more information or help choosing there www.hpvkeuzehulp.nl.
