Canadian police arrest stabbing suspect after stalking who died in hospital

On Monday, police found the body of Damian Sanderson, 31. He was found dead not far from the place of the stabbing. His brother, Miles Sanderson, 32, was still a fugitive.

At 3:30 pm local time, just before midnight Belgian time, the police managed to arrest him near the town of Rostern, also not far from the place of the stabbing. Sanderson died shortly after his arrest from his wounds.

At a press conference, Police Commissioner Rhonda Blackmore said police received a tip that Sanderson broke into a home and stole a car. The car was seen on a nearby highway, reaching a speed of 150 kilometers per hour. Many police cars chase. The police pushed his car into a pothole on the side of the road. Shortly after his arrest, a “medical emergency” emerged and Sanderson was taken to the hospital. He died there, Commissioner Blackmore said.

No details were given about the cause of death. An independent investigation will follow into the circumstances of the death. The media reported a media report that Sanderson died as a result of the injuries he inflicted on himself.
