Google I/O will be held on May 14

The next edition of Google I/O developer conference will be held on May 14. The common thread, as in the past year, will be artificial intelligence.

Google makes the date Known for its annual development of high-block I/O. It will be held on May 14. A limited number of the public will be invited to the site, but Google I/O has been primarily an online event for several years. Keynotes and sessions can be followed live.

What can we expect from Google this year? For many years, Google has been unveiling a new version of Android during the conference. Android 15 is currently in the hands of developers and the first public beta may appear shortly after I/O. The new Android version mainly promises improvements in overall performance and security. Google may also launch the Pixel 8a, Pixel phones have also been sold in our country since the end of last year, but the hardware only plays a supporting role during I/O.

The bumpy path of artificial intelligence

The breakout theme of Google I/O will of course be artificial (productive) intelligence. At its conference, Google will have to convince us once again that it can compete with OpenAI, Anthropic, Microsoft and others. The tech giant has already faced a bumpy road with its generative AI services. Last year, the launch of Bard went completely wrong, and not everything went smoothly with Gemini either.

It's not entirely clear yet what exactly Google could announce regarding generative AI. At the beginning of this year, Google has already launched Gemini Ultra, Gemini Pro (1.5), Gemini Nano and its smaller sibling, Gemma. The LLM lineup is fairly complete, so it seems early for us to release a new version during I/O. Google may announce deeper integrations of AI models within its other services.
