James Cameron reveals he doesn’t want ‘arrogant’ Leonardo DiCaprio to star in ‘Titanic’ | film

filmLeonardo DiCaprio, 48, almost passed out the role of Jack Dawson in the blockbuster “Titanic”. According to director James Cameron (68), he behaved very arrogantly during auditions. For example, he refused a screen test with Kate Winslet.

It’s hard to imagine anyone other than Leonardo DiCaprio in the role of Jack Dawson in James Cameron’s epic Titanic, one of the most successful and famous films of all time. But the 23-year-old Leonardo was nearly fired after refusing to read the script and take a screen test with his future co-star Kate Winslet during auditions.

Director James Cameron was particularly infatuated by DiCaprio at their first meeting. A few days later, he arranged a screen test with Kate Winslet, whom he had already cast as Rose DeWitt Bukater. But this was not to DiCaprio’s liking. “He didn’t know he was going to audition. I think it’s another reunion to meet Kate,” James said. “I said, ‘Well, we’ll just go into the next room, and we’ll go over a few lines of script and I’ll film it.’ And he said, ‘You mean I have to take an audition? I do not do that.”

DiCaprio’s arrogance almost forced Cameron to find someone else for Jack’s side. Speaking to GQ, Cameron said he shook his hand and thanked him for coming. A shocked DiCaprio reportedly replied, “You mean if I don’t screen test I won’t just get the part?” Cameron meticulously explained to him that “Titanic” was a blockbuster and would occupy a large part of his future years. In the end, DiCaprio agreed with Cameron against his will.
