Although British royal protocol strictly forbade accepting gifts, Meghan Markle was happy with all the gifts she received during her years in the UK. This was written by Valentine Law, a Times journalist who specializes in the British royal family, in a new book.

Gifts were constantly being delivered to Kensington Palace: the hidden power behind the crown, Law wrote in The Courtiers. “The clothes, the jewelry, the candles…never expired.”
However, Melissa Topati, Markle’s personal assistant, strictly followed the rules of the British royal family and returned all the gifts. “And that didn’t go well with the Duchess of Sussex,” Low said.
Al-Toubati resigned with immediate effect in 2018, six months after Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s wedding. “Meghan Markle didn’t like her style, so she decided to leave.”
Diamond earrings
According to Low, Meghan Markle also received diamond earrings as a wedding gift from Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. She took it without hesitation, despite the accusation of the then crown prince of involvement in the murder of journalist Jamal Khashoggi.
However, according to Markle’s lawyer, there is “no evidence” that the crown prince personally gave the earrings to the Duchess or that she ever met him. It is also said that Markle was not aware of rumors of bin Salman’s involvement in Khashoggi’s murder at the time.
