According to Hawaii Governor Josh Green, more than 1,000 people are still missing after wildfires on the island of Maui devastated the city of Lahaina. It may also take several weeks to identify the remains.

This is what Josh Green told CBS News. In some cases, Green said, it is impossible to identify the remains. He also said there could be “a lot of children” among the dead.
The cause of the wildfire is still under investigation and Green said he doesn’t know if power lines that need to be upgraded are to blame. He added to the American news site that the consequences of human error are exacerbated by climate change.
