Pastor sues Kanye West for plagiarism | Famous

FamousKanye West, 44, now known as Yi, is being sued by Texas Reverend David Paul Moten, who believes part of his sermon was used for Yi’s song “Come to Life.”

Moten claims that 70 seconds of his religious speech were incorporated into the song without permission. The song lasts five minutes and ten seconds, so according to Mutins’ claim, about 20 percent of the song is filled with his lyrics. This reports “TMZ”. According to the pastor, his voice and lyrics are used in the introduction to the song and then throughout the song.

Not the first time

The song is on West’s “Donda” album released last year. Moten is not happy that “the music industry intentionally uses samples without informing the rightful owner or asking for permission.” In addition to Ye, the pastor is also suing Universal Music Group Recordings, Def Jam Recordings and Good Music, from which he also wants compensation. West spokespeople declined to comment on the incident.

This is not the first time that Yi has used unsolicited samples from certain letters or other recordings. For example, in 2010 for his number Energy Samples “borrowed” from the song “21st Century Schizoid Man” by King Crimson since 1969. Until then, the rapper had not officially applied for a license.
