Patricia Bay returns to the hospital: hoping for a miracle

Patricia Bay’s health is not good. A bacterial infection damaged the prosthesis in her hip, forcing her to stay in a nursing home for three months. Patricia is still in a lot of pain and has to go to the hospital again this week for a checkup. “I hope for a miracle.”

Shortly after having a hip replacement, Patricia broke her leg in a fall in her home. Soon I was able to walk again, until a bacterial infection threw a wrench into action. She spent more than three months in a foster home. “I am no longer the person I used to be. I will never be the same again,” Patricia said at the time.

Back to the hospital

Patricia is still in great pain. However, she has now regained some hope. “I had a scan at the hospital this week,” she said in a conversation with the weekly magazine Story. They want to give me an injection, some kind of epidural. “

Then stop

An injection can make the pain more bearable or even go away. However, Patricia does not want to go too fast. I’ve been in the hospital a few times recently and I’m fed up with it. “On the one hand, you wish for a miracle to happen, but there’s nothing they’ve found so far that will relieve the pain,” she explains. “But then I hear they might have found a cure after all. And then you go again. But if it doesn’t help, it really stops.”

Patricia and her husband, Robert, recently enjoyed a short vacation in Belgium. “We traveled to the coast with our dog. With such beautiful weather, you don’t have to go far to get the real holiday feeling,” Patricia explains. Flight time was not an option. “Then I have to stand in line for a long time. This can only go on behind the wheel. And I don’t like it.”
