Updates are available on Samsung Galaxy S20, A54, A52, and more

The July update is now ready for the Samsung Galaxy A54 and Galaxy S20. Galaxy A52 will get a “snack” without a new patch, and Galaxy A71 and Galaxy A22 will get the June patch.

Galaxy A54 July 2023 update

You may have already noticed: due to holiday activities, we are not on top of updating various Samsung phones right now. But that doesn’t mean they aren’t worth reporting, of course. And so today we’re sweeping a few of them onto the big heap — starting with the Galaxy A54.

The download containing firmware version A546BXXS4AWF7 is approximately 257 MB. It’s a no-scene update, but with a July patch. This improves Android security by 52 points, and Samsung’s own software by 38 points. Among other things, we note fixes for galaxy themes and an audio service that enables audio playback for applications.

The update is available to everyone since yesterday Unbranded Galaxy A54 models in the Netherlands, Belgium and the rest of Europe. Only if you have one branded If you have a phone from one provider or another, you may have to wait a while before it’s your turn.

Galaxy S20 July 2023 update

Another device also receiving the July update today is the Galaxy S20. Or rather: the Galxay S20, S20 + and S20 Ultra are getting the new patch. The G98*BXXSIHWF6 firmware version basically works in the same way as the A54 firmware described above. Many fixes improve Android security and One UI. Other than that, little going on in terms of functionality or design.

It should be noted that the S20 still receives the latest updates every month. This is while the phone appeared about three and a half years ago. As we noted a while ago: the Galaxy S20 series is the first Galaxy S series to update monthly for more than three years. Until now, Samsung has always switched to quarterly updates after three years — but now that part of the policy seems to have improved.

Galaxy A52 5G update without a new patch

Another popular Galaxy phone that received an update a few days ago is the Galaxy A52 5G. Surprisingly, this device has not received a new patch and is therefore still stuck with the June patch. Large update over 260MB that installs firmware version A526BXXU4EWF3. The “U” in this row indicates that the update does more than just polish security.

The changelog doesn’t say what exactly it is – but there is a hint that provides a list of apps that will have the latest version installed.

The new update is now available on all Galaxy A52 5G (SM-A526B) models in the Netherlands and Belgium. We have not yet seen a similar “temporary update” on the Galaxy A52 with 4G (SM-A525F) or on the A52s (SM-A528B).

Galaxy A71 and A22 updated in June 2023

Then there is the Galaxy A71 and Galaxy A22 which both got the June patch in recent days. For Galaxy A71, the over 280MB update for firmware version A715FXXUADWE1 is ready. Galaxy A22 receives firmware version A226BXXU6DWF3 in the form of a download of about 217MB.

On both devices, the changelog also – along with the most recent patch – mentions stability and reliability improvements. In short: you won’t be getting new features anytime soon. But there are improvements going on behind the scenes.

Updates for the A22 and A71 are now available on all models sold in the Netherlands and Belgium.

The Galaxy A71 and A22 now officially only receive two updates per year. This has been the case for the Galaxy A71 for quite some time, and that goes for the A22 from this month. However, the update for the A71 is already the third it will receive in 2023 – and we’re only past the middle of the year.
