Two-time world champion Max Verstappen will contest this weekend’s United States Grand Prix for the first time. See the race schedule in Texas here.

Verstappen can call himself a two-time world champion from the Japanese Grand Prix. His team, Red Bull Racing, is yet to have a constructors’ champion, although that looks like a formality. Red Bull currently has a 165-point lead over Ferrari. If that lead is still 147 points after the race in Austin, Red Bull will be the constructors’ champion. In that scenario, the Italians can still level the points in the remaining three races, but cannot overtake Red Bull in terms of wins this season. That makes a difference in the event of a tie.

Another battle still raging between Charles Leclerc and Sergio Perez. Finishing second behind Verstappen in the title fight may be considered a consolation prize, but for both drivers it will be the best place in their careers. Perez has one more point than Leclerc (253 out of 252).

Verstappen could take the necessary records in 2022, including the most wins in a season. Limburger has already won twelve times this year and has Michael Schumacher and Sebastian Vettel’s record of thirteen times shared with four GPs remaining in his sights. Two more hits and that record is broken.
