Will this Disney+ series starring Selena Gomez beat the Squid Game? | TV

TVThe Netflix series ‘Squid Game’ has already been a huge hit, but it looks like the new Disney+ series ‘Only Murders In The Building’, starring Selena Gomez (29) in the lead role, will break that record. Currently, the new series is the highest rated on the largest movie review sites.

The mystery comedy Only Murders In The Building has done well on popular site Rotten Tomatoes, as well as on IMDb. In the latter position, the Gomez series has a rating of 8.2 out of 10. This number is slightly higher than the score for “Squid Game”, which has a rating of 8.1 out of 10.

Selena Gomez effect

A possible explanation for this success may be the return of Selena Gomez. Gomez last acted two years ago in A Rainy Day in New York, alongside Timothée Chalamet and Elle Fanning. Then Gomez preferred to focus on her music career and released her latest albums “Rare” and “Revelación”. In between, she could have been heard as Mavis in the “Hotel Transylvania” movies as well as Betsy the giraffe in “Dolittle” with Robert Downey Jr.

Selena Gomez has now decided to resume her acting career in the new mystery comedy series Only Murders In The Building. The show follows three people who live in the same apartment building and share an obsession with true crime stories. When a neighbor suddenly dies under mysterious circumstances in his building, the trio (Selena Gomez, Martin Short and Steve Martin) decide to investigate on their own. The series is less gruesome than “Squid Game,” but still worth a watch according to current ratings.

Peter and the “Squid Game” (?)

On the Rotten Tomatoes “Tomato Scale,” which is based on reviews from critics and professional critics, “Only Murders In The Building” still scores fully 100 percent at the moment. The Squid Game scored 94 percent. Remarkably, the audience score is also higher than the Squid Game. There the score was 94 percent, compared to 84 percent for South Korean soap operas. Existing scores can still be changed because they are linked to reviews. If negative reviews appear, the score will decrease. However, it has already been confirmed that the series will get a second season, and that must be in part because of the good reception from audiences and critics.
