4Gamers – Live Preview | Escape from Tarkov Arena brings speed to Tarkov

Escape From Tarkov from developer Battlestate Games is no stranger to the world of hardcore FPS. With every update, they go a step further in terms of realism, and while that’s great for the majority of their fanbase, others are also sometimes looking for sessions that are a bit lighter. The developer understood this and released a different version of the base game called Arena.

Escape from Tarkov Arena brings the same strong elements to the base game, because nothing has changed. The weapons, gear, items, health packs, and more you are used to have stayed the same and become very familiar. Instead of raiding, you can now choose between some modes that focus specifically on PvP or PvE. During the event, we were able to try out two of the five modes, Shootout and Teamfight. Teamfight can be thought of as a team death match where you compete with five other players against another team of five players. The goal is to kill everyone on the enemy team or to capture a random point on the map for a few seconds. The round is fairly short, but you won’t win the match until you win seven rounds. And don’t expect to go back either. Death is over and then you have to wait for the next round.

Shootout is rather a tournament where you can play alone, in a duo or in a trio against other similar groups. You will then be matched against each other and the score will be awarded to the winner. If it ends in a draw, style is also taken into account. This is a random calculation based on your performance during the tournament. The great thing about this mode is that other teams can watch another team’s live battle. You will also see a live scoreboard and you will also see the next team’s turn. The developer has esports ambitions, and that’s very evident in Shootout. Battlestate has also announced that it will hold its own tournaments in the future.

Moreover, we will get three additional modes in the future, which are Overrun, Last Hero, and Duel. Overrun is a PvE mode where you have to face waves of enemies in a group of five while completing missions and safely searching for extraction. Last Hero is a simple deathmatch, while no details are known about Duel yet.

Escape from Tarkov Square - Sat Aug 26 at 3:00pm CEST!

Escape From Tarkov is known for the huge customization that you can make to your character’s equipment, as well as to the different weapons. We all spend most of our time on the list putting together the perfect combo only to get a shot in the head in the first minute. Too bad in terms of time and that’s also something the developer didn’t want with Arena. The goal is to get you into the action quickly without having to think about combos or combos. Therefore, a number of roles have been created that come with their own presets. You buy a ruble preset, click start and stop. This way you are immediately in the center of the action and don’t have to waste time going through different menus.

During the event we were able to play two maps, Air Pit and Equator. Air Pit takes place in an airport where there is a broken plane in the middle of the map, while Equator takes place in a shopping mall. The size of the map depends on which mode you are playing. For example, Equator is more focused on penalty kicks and we had a team fight game in the Air Pit. The folders are small and soon you’ll be running into someone. This ensures that the action is very fast and that the tour will not last too long. In the future, we will show seven volumes, each of which plays in a known location. If you play both versions of Escape From Tarkov, you don’t have to be afraid of getting different characters, because you share the same character in both versions. The experience you gain from the Arena is also shared with the main game.
