Buckingham Palace annual report not positive: diversity goals and excursions still too expensive | Property

PropertyBuckingham Palace is also occasionally examined. However, the most recent annual report, just released, shows that there is still work to be done. For example, the palace has not met the imposed diversity targets, and the royal family’s trips abroad still cost a lot of money.

They weren’t far behind, but unfortunately the royals fell short of their diversity goals. As of March 31, only 9.7 percent of the employees were found to have an immigrant background, while the target was 10 percent. Sorry, but they don’t give up. The new goal for 2025 is that 14 percent of the workforce has an immigrant background. The rest of the staff had already been given a course on inclusivity and diversity, which they had to participate in.

The British royal family has been repeatedly accused of racism in recent years, not least by Prince Harry and Meghan, who claimed on television that a member of the royal family was a racist. In addition, Prince William’s godmother was discredited as she kept questioning a black guest about her “ancestry”.

Expensive flights

In addition to diversity, savings also remain an issue. Although Charles is already over budget with the red pen, he wants it to be even cheaper in the future. Especially the numerous trips made by members of the royal family cause costs. Last year, the family spent 4.5 million euros on foreign trips. King Charles and Queen Camilla’s visit to Rwanda was the most expensive, costing €217,300.

Although that’s a lot of money, travel costs are down by €699,000 this year. But it turns out that costs for helicopter flights have risen to more than €1m in the meantime. And those numbers will have to drop sharply by next year.

These were the royal family’s most expensive trips in the past year

1 – Charles and Camila – Rwanda – 217,300 euros

2. Charles and Camilla – Germany – €170,000

3. Edward and Sophie – Saint Lucia, Caribbean – €99,000

5. William and Kate – Boston – €55,900
