On the sad anniversary of his son’s death a year ago, Peter posted a post with photos of the perpetrator on Facebook saying “thank you forever for ruining my life”. He also asked to share the message, which was met with massive responses. The reply did not take long. The Facebook post was removed a few days after the police visit by order of the Public Prosecutor’s Office. In the meantime, however, plenty of screenshots have been making the rounds.

But now, Facebook itself has also taken action. “I got a message on Monday that my account has been blocked,” says Peter. “It’s not clear to me when I asked before, but I was able to appeal. I did, too. Many people tag me in posts with pictures of the man who killed my son, but I haven’t made any posts myself.”
Facebook itself said that it usually takes a day before a decision is made. “Meanwhile it’s already Friday and so I think my account has been permanently deleted. I’m not waking up. It gives me a little peace after the hectic period. Luckily I still have a copy of all the photos on my account on my computer. It’s just amazing.” Too bad no one can reach me on Messenger anymore. On the other hand, people close to my heart still have my phone number.”
