Ghent Mealhero has filed for bankruptcy. The company is now trying to find a buyer. Mealhero provides food cans, in which you can defrost the ingredients in a special steamer. Thousands of the company’s customers have yet to be officially notified. Secretary of State de Bleecker advised customers to stop direct debit.

Panic in the Facebook Mealhero group. Customers who ordered a lunch box did not receive it. The new customer checkout page on the company’s website has been down for several days. It reads: “It is not possible to start your own meal plan. We are working hard to solve this problem ASAP!”
It’s mostly wrong that they don’t tell users
What many users feared turned out to be true: Mealhero filed for bankruptcy on August 31. “I haven’t been able to order for two weeks,” says a customer on Facebook. Another was able to place an order but received nothing: “Maybe that’s why they didn’t deliver to me today, and it was also the first time we had asked them.”
“It’s especially wrong that they don’t tell anyone,” one loyal customer tells us. “In the meantime, I have suspended all my debits so they can’t take money from my account anymore. We know nothing about the rest.”
Jeroen Spitaels, CEO of Mealhero, enthusiastically confirms that his company is in trouble, but points out to the coordinator: “The priority for me is customers. I especially feel sorry for them. And we want to do everything we can to find a solution to that. But everything is now.” in the care of the coordinator.”
De Bleeker: “Stop the direct discount and call the curator”
Minister of State for Consumer Affairs De Bleeker says consumers should stop their payments as soon as possible: “If you have a direct debit subscription to Mealhero, it’s best to block it for now,” says De Bleeker. “For Mealhero steamers, the coordinator should provide a solution as quickly as possible, so that consumers know what to do with the steam iron.”
