Two police officers and a civilian have been shot dead in a remote building in the Australian province of Queensland. The agents responded to a report of a missing person in Wembela, in the east of the country. It is believed that the officers were ambushed. A press briefing on Tuesday morning, Australian time, reported six deaths following the intervention of the special services. Two suspects are included.
Australian media reported that a group of four police officers headed to a property in Wimbela after an incident was reported. The officers were fired on the spot from the house upon their arrival.
Two officers were wounded. According to eyewitnesses, they were executed by armed men while they were lying on the ground, and they were reportedly dressed in military fatigues and masks. Reports point to two perpetrators. The agent flees, raising the alarm
One of the four officers called to the scene, a policewoman who had completed her training only a few weeks earlier, managed to escape and raise the alarm. She could have been chased during her flight, but four police teams who immediately arrived to support her managed to save her.
The fourth officer was also wounded by a bullet while he was being treated in the hospital. The accident resulted in a third death: an accidental pedestrian.
