Noah Lyles had a very successful World Athletics Championship. Raja’s number, the American sprinter, won gold in the 200m and 4x100m relay. So he can call himself a world champion. Lyles doesn’t think about teams winning the NBA.
“You know my favorite thing to do is watch the NBA Finals and they’ve got the ‘world champion’ label on their head. What’s a world champion?” Lyles wondered aloud. “United Nations?”
Review
NBA (National Basketball Association) of America, so Lyles is right. “It’s not the world, we are the world,” he said at a press conference at the World Athletics Championships in Budapest. “We have almost every country fighting and thriving and raising their flag to show they’re represented. There are no flags in the NBA,” Lyles laughed.
Those statements didn’t sit well with many NBA fans. But the players also responded. “Someone help this bro,” Phoenix Suns player Kevin Durant wrote under an ESPN post. Draymond Green was also on his dick: “When being smart goes wrong.” Assaulted Americans and basketball players certainly weren’t at the forefront when it came to intelligence.
