‘Tom Dice’s name keeps dropping:’ On January 14, we learned the Flemish entry to the song contest | Music

MusicTwelve years later, the public broadcaster returns with Eurosong and our country strives to win. Names like Starlings, Cherine and Loredana are heard in the aisles, but whoever travels to Liverpool before us, we’ll be part of the final on January 14 at Palais 12 in Brussels.

Seven artists. A mixture of well-established values and fresh talent. With this, VRT breathes new life into the “struggle of state interests”. This seriousness is also evident from the intentions under the Rayers Tower. “The artist must be able to perform the song to the fullest and want the absolute best performance. In addition, it must be a song that our country, and therefore also, VRT can win,” according to the public broadcaster.

A very difficult task. But in the list of the seven there is always the name of a veteran. Tom Dice successfully defended our colors in 2010 with the song “Me and My Guitar” and took sixth place. Now he would like to repeat this wonderful performance with his wife and great love Kato Kalibo by his side. According to our sources, “The Starlings” will be among the very few chosen anyway.

We put other names with question marks. Natalia was initially called, but did not participate. Loredana’s name – Mrs. Pat Crimson – has been whispered many times.

rough diamonds

One of those mentioned aloud is Shireen, a rough diamond under the wings of Hans Franken, the producer who previously launched Camille and Metejoor. It should come as no surprise that you get a chance. This spring she made it to the finalist of the MNM Rising Star and immediately became a familiar face in the broadcaster’s corridors.

Speaking of familiar faces: Peter van de Veer will be speaking with the entire Eurosong Circus together. It was also the announcer himself who announced in mid-August on ‘Zomerhit’ that ‘Eurosong’ would be dusted off. A project that has been working on for several months, but now it has finally fallen into the final fold.

VRT does not want to make it clear until next week who can vote and how the winner will be appointed. But it is already certain that the final will be broadcast on January 14 from the 12 Palace under the Atomium. Our national channel will be camping out that week in the room with the “MIAs” and “The Golden K’s” and thus also announcing our entry into Liverpool. Also on the jury is a ‘gentleman’: Duncan Laurence (Dutch Winner 2019) will help our nominees with advice and assistance.
