Samsung expects to sell nearly half a million smart rings

Samsung seems to have high expectations for the Galaxy Ring: it's said that nearly half a million smart rings will be produced, which is a very large number for a new gadget.

The Korean tech giant unveiled the Galaxy Ring last month. You put it on your finger like a regular ring, and then smart sensors measure your health and transmit that data to your smartphone, for example. An interesting idea for those who want to measure health data but don't want to wear a bulky device that can be worn on their wrist.

Insiders report that there is 400,000 copies The Galaxy Ring is in production, which should be ready for sale in August 2024. That's nearly half of the million rings that rival and market leader Oura currently sells.

This is just the first batch of rings: according to sources, Samsung could quickly ramp up production if demand picks up, or, for example, order a second batch.

This means that Samsung seems confident that it will quickly overtake the largest player in the smart ring market. On the other hand, it is a modest number compared to other wearable devices. To put this in perspective, the Galaxy Watch is sold several million times in a single quarter.
