No reason was given for the 95-year-old queen’s absence. Elizabeth has had health problems recently. For example, she contracted the coronavirus and had trouble walking for a while. Prince Charles and his wife Camilla also replaced the Queen during Maundy Thursday prayers on Thursday. After the ceremony, Charles traditionally handed out coins, called “coins”. These are for retirees who have given so much to the local community and church. This year, the coins were distributed to 96 men and women, one for each of the years of her life. The Queen hopes to celebrate her 96th birthday next week, on April 21.
Each recipient received two bags of coins, one white and one red. The white purse contained a total of 96 pence, and the red one contained a commemorative five-pound coin and a 50-pence coin. Special coins are often popular with coin collectors.
